We had a most pleasant experience here celebrating a dear friend's birthday last night. It's good for groups. The food is delicious and the service is great. It features items that are inspired from the Balkans. I thoroughly enjoyed the cheese pie and the Brussels sprouts. They have group dining and drink options. It's good for celebrating birthdays as well. I recommend a rideshare booking to get there to avoid having to pay for parking. They also have outdoor dining options. They have a two-hour dining limit I believe just for those ordering the group, community-style dining options. I'm a fan and would love to return in the future. Bravo!

Finally made it back to Ambar for my boyfriend's birthday with friends! Last time we were seated on the second floor I think, with a more intimate dark ambience. This time we were seated on the third floor and the fake cherry blossoms and lighting were bright and cheery. The menu has changed a bit but we had a great time. Some of the foods were definitely salty (didn't stop us from ordering the steak tartare 6 times though) and I was a little disappointed in the lamb lasagna. It was a standout favorite from last visit, but was served cold this time so we didn't reorder. Even so, this was a fun experience again to sample all the foods and spreads, and we would definitely return. It's funny because as we were walking in, we overheard a girl say to her guy "let's make Ambar an annual thing" as they were walking out. We feel the same way.

Something for everyone and everything for someone What a mix of flavors! From vegetable small plates to kabobs and stuffed cabbage to beet carpaccio and (oh!) the mussels The house Cabernet Sauvignon from Moldova was quite an amazing surprise with its fruity notes The almond flour and yogurt chocolate is truly unique with an amazing tangy and deep chocolate flavor. The texture is very unique.

The cutest little spot in Shaw--with the perfect DC cherry blossom vibes in the upstairs restaurant. The value is incredible--for $50 per person, you can have 2 hours of unlimited small plates from their Balkan-style menu. There is also an all you can drink package for $28pp for a small selection of wines, beers, and cocktails. The service was very friendly! Our only qualm was the actual execution of the unlimited small plates. We would order 4-5 plates at a time, and realized that for every 4 we ordered, 1 or 2 would never arrive. Since the plates come out at various times whenever they are ready, it was tough to tell if we would ever receive things we had ordered. To give a breakdown, we ordered about 15 plates total, and did not receive 4-5 of them at all. It ended up being fine (mostly because we were stuffed) but we were kind of disappointed to never receive a few things we were hoping to try and we didn't want to order more in the case that they ended up being delivered. Despite this, a few of our absolute favorite must-try dishes were the salmon, mushroom flatbread, and lamb lasagna. Wishing we had gotten a chance to try everything, but this is a perfect place to come with a group of friends and a large appetite!

Brunch me please! Me and my frat brothers decided that we want to spend time together and get some good eats and boy did we eat! Ambar unlimited brunch tapas plays no games and just because it's small doesn't mean you won't get full. The mimosas were strong and delicious as well as the sangria. I had a few tapas but my favorite was the steak, shrimp omelette, mushroom pilav, and the beef kabobs. The kale salad was pretty refreshing too. Service was lovely as our waitress continued to provide us with mimosas and placing our new plates. The scenery was lovely but I will say air conditioning could've been better upstairs. I'm glad that I tried both brunch and dinner at Ambar

We enjoyed our recent visit here very much. I started with a glass of the red Serbian wine the waiter recommended. It was good. We had the urnebes spread to start & were very happy with it. For our main entree we had the lamb. It was very good, tender & flavorful. We also had a side dish of cauliflower & liked it very much too. Urnebes

Ambar hands down is one of the best brunch experiences I have had! Brunch is my favorite meal so when I saw unlimited small plates and bottomless mimosas for $50 I had to go. The mango hibiscus mimosa is a must-try! I was tempted to try the other flavors but that one was so good I stuck to it. Now for the food, we tried a bit of everything. My favorites were the salmon benedict, hanger steak, omelet, chicken sliders and kale salad. We had a few items that were just ok so not worth mentioning. The service was quick and my glass was never empty and the food did not stop coming. We sat outside which was perfect but the inside of the restaurant was beautiful and definitely a great spot for a birthday brunch celebration. There are also additional locations in NOVA! I will definitely be going back.
